August 2026: Attitude

Zig Ziglar tells a story about two baseball players that strike out in two completely different ways.

The first batter goes up to bat.  When the first ball is thrown he is so busy thinking he will miss the ball that it goes right past him!  Strike one.

The second ball is thrown and he closes his eyes!  Strike two.

When the third ball is thrown he jumps backwards, away from the ball’s path.  Strike three.  He’s out!

The second batter comes up to bat and thinks to himself, “I can do this!”  The first ball is thrown so fast that he doesn’t have time to swing the bat.  Strike one.

The second ball comes toward him and he swings the bat as hard as he can.  A swing and a miss.  Strike two.

The third ball is thrown and he connects!  The ball flies into the air, but someone in the outfield catches it out of the air, a pop fly.  He’s out!

Both batters were “out,” but the second batter was closer to getting to first base.

Why - He had a better attitude

“Positive thinking won't let you do anything, but it will let you do everything better than negative thinking will.” -Zig Ziglar.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29:11
